Today Bernie Sanders introduced legislation that would tax large corporations who are paying their employees so little that their employees have to be on food stamps and Medicaid in order to survive.
If companies like Amazon and Walmart won’t pay their employees a living wage Sanders says, why should taxpayers foot the bill for this corporate welfare.
Sanders is partnering with House progressive Rep. Ro Khanna (Democrat of California) on the Stop Bad Employers by Zeroing Out Subsidies (Stop BEZOS) Act, which would enact a tax on large corporations equal to the federal benefits their low-wage employees receive in order to make ends meet.
