A number of products including Cheerios and Quaker Oats Oatmeal are labeled Non-GMO but their companies are facing class action lawsuits over dangerously high levels of glyphosate being found in the food. Glyphosate is the main ingredient in Monsanto’s RoundUp weed killer.
RoundUp is used on many non-GMO crops; the crops were supposed to be sprayed at lower levels because they were not engineered to withstand the levels of glyphosate that GMO crops can handle.
This is not the case. These lawsuits allege that not only are these levels dangerous, the levels of glyphosate found in these foods were as high as found in GMO foods. This begs the question, how many food products stating they are non-GMO really are?
Regardless, it is important for the public to understand that eating non-GMO does not protect one from toxic glyphosate.
Only Buy Certified Organic.
Look for this label. Try to only eat organic food as much as possible. I know it is very expensive. Eating even a little bit of organic will neutralize some of the GMO toxins and make a big difference in your health. If possible, grow your own rooftop or backyard garden.
